Frequently Asked Questions
What is the process?
Step one - Contact me
When you’ve decided to book a photography session, contact me either by email, phone, Instagram or Facebook messenger and we can discuss details and the location of the shoot. We can also talk about any special requests you may have.
Step two - Pay the booking fee
I will send you a contract to look over and sign. You can pay the booking fee by cash on the day or bank transfer. This must be paid before any pictures are taken.
Step three - The photo shoot
The photoshoot typically lasts around one hour, but please allow 90 minutes in case we need more time. We will take pictures at different spots in our chosen location.
Step four - Choose your photos
Within fourteen days of the shoot you will receive a link to your online gallery. From here you will be able to purchase high quality prints, fine art prints, canvases, digital files or packages (see price page).
What if my dog wont sit still?
No problem at all, my camera can shoot at 1/8000th of a second so your dog can move around as much as they like. I find lots of my best pictures come from dogs who are too excitable to sit still, plus I have lots of toys and distractions to get their attention.
What if I can’t let my dog off the lead?
Leads can be edited out. I can show you ways to hold the lead to get the best results. I also can bring a long training lead if needed.
Editing out a harness is a different story. If you don’t want the harness showing in the photos then it would be better to remove it and clip the lead to the collar instead.
Where will the shoot take place?
If you have a shoot location in mind, then please share it with me when you contact me, otherwise I can recommend plenty of nice places in the Nottinghamshire area. Woodlands make ideal places for a photo shoot as they provide a lovely backdrop and provide soft light. Large fields are excellent for getting shots of dogs galloping gracefully towards the camera.
How should I prepare for the session?
If your dog has a favourite toy or treat then please feel free to bring them. I always have treats and squeaky things to get the dogs attention. Concerning grooming, It’s completely up to you how you want your dog to look in the pictures.
How far will you travel
Anywhere in Nottinghamshire is fine for me.
I frequently travel around the UK in my campervan, so please feel free to drop me a message and we could fit something in on my travels.
How does the weather affect our session?
We can get beautiful shots with lots of different weather types. My favorite time to shoot is the hours leading up to sunset. Midday in full sun is best avoided as it creates harsh light that can ruin photos. Cloudy days are nice as the light can be very soft. For rainy days it is best that we reschedule.
How many dogs can I bring?
Your booking fee includes up to two dogs to be photographed. I charge an extra £25 per dog above this. This is to account for the extra time the shoot and post processing would take.
Can I buy a different size print other than the ones listed?
Yes. I can accommodate most sizes. If you want another size, please ask me and I’ll add them to your price sheet. Note that pictures may have to be slightly cropped in order to fit.
What does my booking fee get me?
This is the fee for me to come out and take the pictures and edit them. Editing each pictures can take me between 30 minutes and several hours depending on how much work the photo needs.
How does the online gallery work?
Within 14 days of your photoshoot I will send you an email with a link to your gallery. In this gallery you will see all your images fully edited with my watermark. From there you have the option to buy prints, digital files or a combination. I recommend the packages for the best value.
Digital Image Copyright
I retain the copyright for my images. Digital files come with a printing licence which allow you to print as many copies of the image as you like. These are for personal use only (displaying, giving to friends and family etc). The files may not be edited, cropped or changed in any way.
What is the difference between prints and fine art prints?
Fine art prints use high-quality pigment-based inks and acid-free fine art paper.
I offer “Hahnemuhle William Turner 190gsm” fine art prints. 100% cotton with a distinct texured surface. If you are interested in fine art prints please let me know.
